A trial of hope begins as on woman realizes how fungi can grow from her apartment wall and ceiling, located in the Lake Mead Estates, NV.
Last Month the homeowner, Ruz, first spotted the mushrooms growing from her ceiling. Ruz and others blames the recent rain in January as the culprit. Other experts believe that a current moisture intrusion problem still exist.
Barbara Ruz contacted Action News to investigate and report the mold problem.
According to Ruz, her apartment complexes’ maintenance man plucked out the mushrooms and painted over the remnants. She says she was revolted when she saw the mushrooms were coming back through.
A third party testing company was ordered by the property management company to investigate the residence and provide recommendations for the removal and repairs. In many cases complexes simply cover up the problem and don't fix the true root of the problem. The problem seems to be a standard throughout this industry because an initial assessment by a qualified mold inspector would have provided the detailed and much needed remedy for this common type of situation.
The property management company has resolved the current problem by moving Mrs. Ruz to another apartment on one of their properties.
